Why I’m Here…

Triathlete running barefoot with bike, coming out of transition one, wearing helmet and cycling gear, getting ready to race triathlon bike.

I’m a 20-something from Vancouver, Washington, and I don’t know what I am doing. What I do know is that I love one of the best sports in the world: triathlon.

I have been an athlete my whole life, across multiple sports. From ages 6-15, I was all about gymnastics until high school. High school was a whirlwind of sports seasons. For a while, I was doing both club gymnastics and high school gymnastics, all while pole vaulting in the spring. By junior year, I stepped away from club gymnastics but kept up high school gymnastics, stuck with pole vault, and even picked up competitive swimming my senior year. Eventually, pole vault carried me into college athletics at Western Washington University, where I competed for 2 years. Around that same time, spring break of my freshman year, I discovered cycling.

I quit pole vault, in part due to COVID, but I knew deep down I was ready for my next challenge, triathlon. In 2021, I competed in my first triathlon season. In 2022, I graduated with a BA in French. College wasn’t easy. I worked through mental battles by seeing a counselor on and off, struggled with disordered eating, and finally got diagnosed with ADHD. But these challenges shaped me just as much as sports ever did.

After college my dream of living aboard in France came true. I’ve tried out so many different career paths from firefighter to marketing professional, all while trying to make triathlon the focus. Now, I’m chasing an exciting dream: becoming the best triathlete I can become, while maintaining work, life, sport, balance, all while navigating the ups and downs of life’s emotions. That might be why you’re here too.

I created The Tri-Fueled Life in August 2024 while sick with a cold. Motivated by money and restlessness, this blog was born. Additionally, I was craving creative freedom, a way to express myself, and support other women in their own athletic quests. Sometimes I get this feeling at book stores when I stand in front of the sports section, I choke up thinking of all the lives of athletic achievement and inspiration from so many different facets. I always feel particularly moved by women’s stories.

Through this blog, my hope is to enhance women’s athletic experiences by sharing storytelling that inspires, performance essentials that empower, and guidance that helps you find balance in both body and mind.
